The Nigeria Medical Association, Federal Capital Territory (NMA-FCT) chapter has advised Nigerians to incorporate daily exercise into their routines for better health. Dr. Eno Ekop, the Vice Chairman of the NMA-FCT chapter, gave this advice during the 2023 Physicians Week activities in Abuja.
The theme of the week was “This is Our Chance to Get it Right in the Health Sector,” and it provided an opportunity for doctors to celebrate their profession and provide medical attention to the citizens. The week’s activities included a church mass, an opening ceremony, and a medical outreach event focused on the elderly.
For the indoor games, the association organized various activities such as card games, table tennis, chess, ludo, and Scrabble, allowing all members to participate. This was a way to promote physical activity and relaxation among healthcare professionals.
The NMA’s emphasis on exercise and wellness highlights the importance of a healthy lifestyle in maintaining good health and well-being. Regular physical activity is known to have numerous health benefits, including improved cardiovascular health, reduced risk of chronic diseases, and enhanced mental well-being.
