Splatoon 3 enthusiasts can rejoice as Nintendo announces the return of the Splatfest for Halloween this month. Along with this spooky event, players can expect fresh attire for themselves and the beloved idols Deep Cut and the Squid Sisters. This marks the first Splatoween in Splatoon 3, and the community is thrilled since it was absent in 2022.
Fans have eagerly awaited confirmation of a Halloween Splatfest in Splatoon 3 this year as the holiday drew nearer. Nintendo has now quelled those anxieties by revealing a Halloween Splatfest in the pipeline.
Nintendo shared the official announcement on Splatoon 3’s social media channels, detailing the date, theme, and new content. The Halloween Splatfest will commence on October 27 at 5 pm PT and conclude on October 29 at 5 pm PT. The theme revolves around the question, “Which Would Be the Best Friend?” with spooky-themed options. Team Zombie, Team Skeleton, and Team Ghost, represented by Shiver, Frye, and Big Man respectively, will be competing for victory. Each idol is given a Halloween makeover for this event, with Shiver donning dramatic Undead Geisha-like red makeup, Frye sporting shimmery chains and wrist bangles, and Big Man appearing ghostly. For those with the Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass, the Squid Sisters in Inkopolis will also showcase unique Halloween-themed outfits.
In keeping with the Halloween spirit, players will have access to various new cosmetics, unlockable through the Nintendo Switch channel closer to the Splatfest. These include the Mummy-inspired Undead Head, Kraken Swim Reaper, Pirate The Plankton Walker, and Bleak Beak Plague Mask. Notably, these are all-new designs not seen in previous events.
While the map for Tri-Color Turf Wars and the potential for multiple maps have not yet been disclosed, the update team announced the reworking of Mahi-Mahi Resort. This map will be temporarily removed from the standard rotation from October 15 to October 17.
The competition will determine if Team Shiver can maintain its winning streak in the Splatfest. Regardless of the outcome, this event promises some spooky fun, much anticipated since its absence in Splatoon 2.
