Qantas Airways, facing a series of controversies and a sharp drop in its stock price, has announced a governance overhaul. However, the proposed changes have come under scrutiny. The airline’s chair, Richard Goyder, is stepping down, along with two directors who have been on the board for a decade.
While this is a positive step, two of the directors are remaining in their seats until February, and Goyder intends to stay until just before the company’s annual meeting over a year from now. The delays in implementing these changes may not sit well with the airline’s shareholders.
