Ineos, a British chemicals company with an expanding presence in the automotive industry, is charting an electric path but has no plans to become electric-vehicle (EV) only. According to the company’s auto unit boss, Lynn Calder, “Battery-electric isn’t the answer to everything,” and “the combustion engine will remain part of the mix for quite some time.”
This approach aligns with a common industry sentiment that the transition to electric vehicles will be gradual and that internal combustion engines will continue to be part of the automotive landscape for years to come. Ineos, known for its rugged SUVs, is working on its first EV, but it also plans to continue offering combustion engine models in its product lineup.
