To end the suffering of city dwellers who are at the mercy of a new generation of fossil fuel car and truck enthusiasts who have altered the exhaust fumes of their vehicles, city council agreed to send a letter to the Ontario government asking for some form of relief from what some residents call a deafening threat. “I get a lot of complaints from residents who are bothered by these custom rear mufflers added to vehicles that increase exhaust noise. It`s a nuisance that`s all over the city, not only does it disturb the rest, but it also keeps them awake,” Panciuk said. It`s scary in some cases when drivers are running their engines at intersections and so on. An exhaust muffler is essentially a metal plate or set of plates located under the body of your car. The other end of the muffler is attached to the engine`s exhaust system, which circulates the gas twice – first into the engine, then back into the muffler before exiting through the exhaust pipe. This means that you have two chances of burning all those nasty gases from your car, so you don`t have to worry about turning it back on, damaging anything. According to a report, residents are complaining to the town hall about noise pollution. In return, Mayor Mitch Panciuk requested that a letter be sent to Ontario leaders calling for stricter exhaust noise regulations and tougher penalties for violations. Yes, the way to solve all of society`s problems is to pass more laws and regulations, because that has been working very well lately, especially in Canada. There is a limit to exhaust noise, because if all cars are idling or on the road sound like thunder, exposure would be a problem for anyone living near busy areas such as highways, cities, and towns. That said, recreational hunting trips are still possible without worrying about neighbors (or neighbors` livestock).

In addition, Belleville will send the same letter to Ontario leaders to other communities in the province. It is a way of building support, because Ontario seems to be trying to become the California of Canada. I guess they haven`t heard that people have a hard time finding a U-haul available to get out of this state, because cracking down on aftermarket exhaust systems instead of focusing on the real problems is a wonderful strategy for any government. Speaking of California, it`s actually more liberal when it comes to exhaust noise than Belleville executives want. In California, 95 dbA is the legal limit, drivers of high-performance cars running on factory exhausts would be cited for breaking the law. What Belleville wants Ontario to adopt is an 80 dbA limit. Ontario has come a long way from horse-drawn vehicles (although the Highway Traffic Act still contains laws on them). Cars have powerful engines that can accelerate the vehicle quickly, causing the tires to squeal or smoke. Vehicles produce exhaust gases that need to be regulated, and they can also make necessary or unwanted noise. While much of this seems to be common sense and basic general courtesy to other drivers and pedestrians, so does the law. Counsel. Tyler Allsopp intervened, adding that “standard exhaust systems reach more than 80 decibels” and said he would support the letter if it only applied to aftermarket mufflers and not to new high-performance cars with noisier exhaust systems.

“It`s a different animal, it`s almost exclusively four-cylinder imports. I think someone has seen too much of Fast and the Furious and thinks if they put a can of coffee on their exhaust instead of their muffler, they think it`s faster,” he said. Everything to get rid of those disgusting Honda farts can exhaust the spikes. 1.3. It is prohibited to affix a cut-off, straight exhaust, eviscerated silencer, Hollywood muffler, bypass muffler or similar device to a motor vehicle or bicycle assisted. Yes, my old home was on a country road, which the biker community loved to ride around on weekends/evenings. I loved Harleys and touring motorcycles, but after listening to them for 5 years all summer, they are MUCH more annoying than any car exhaust. And I add that this road was also the way all the people in the car drove to get to the track in Calabogie. Ontario`s exhaust noise laws are fairly straightforward. To make sure everyone knows the rules, it`s important to fully understand what an exhaust muffler is and what it does. 75 (1) Every motor vehicle or auxiliary bicycle shall be equipped with a silencer in good condition and in continuous operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise and smoke, and no person shall use a cut-off silencer, straight exhaust, eviscerated silencer, Hollywood muffler, bypass device or similar device on a motor vehicle or motorcycle.

R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, at p. 75(1). While enforcement takes place in communities across the province, including at the local level, the group is seeking tougher penalties for mockers. According to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, the exhaust noise limit is 95 decibels. But don`t worry too much about how many decibels your car makes — a police officer with a noise meter or kit can tell you if your car is making too much noise. Most people have relaxed at home, watching TV or lying in bed, only to be suddenly disturbed by the sound of a noisy car passing by with a noisy exhaust system making noise. It can certainly be annoying.

But is it against the law? Section 75(1) of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act deals with exactly this issue: Yes. There are two exceptions for silent noise or smoke legislation under subsection 75(2) of the Highway Traffic Act: The application will require the Ministry of Transportation to establish a maximum decibel limit for exhaust systems to ensure that exhaust systems with a capacity greater than 80 decibels are not offered for sale and are not registered in the province of Ontario. and that it considers: an increase in the associated penalties for non-compliance. One councillor said he only had problems with four-cylinder cars with replacement exhaust systems.
