On Thursday, 24th February 2022, Justice Emeka Nwite of a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the temporary seizure of the former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha’s property at Plot 1032 & 1033 Cadastral Zone AO3, Takum Close, Off Michika Street, Ahmadu Bello Way, Garki Abuja.

This is due to the ex-parte order brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which aligns with section 44(2) of the 1999 constitution and section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act No. 14 2006 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. EFCC sought the forfeiture of the property because it was acquired illegally.
