The Ekiti State Government, on Sunday, imposed a curfew from 8 pm to 6 am in the state.

The state government also banned all gatherings of more than 20 people in the state until further notice.

According to the state government, the restrictions take effect from Monday, January 11, 2021.

The new guidelines were made known by the Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, Hon Akinbowale Omole, in Ado Ekiti on Sunday.

Omole, however, cited the spread of COVID-19 as the reason for the new measures.

He added that there’s a need for government to be proactive and take decisive steps to secure the citizens from falling prey to the second wave of the pandemic.

Omole, therefore, advised citizens of the state to follow COVID-19 protocols by wearing their nose masks properly, wash their hands with soap, use hand sanitizer regularly and maintain social distancing.
