Popular Nigerian musicians, Michael Ajereh popularly known as Don Jazzy, and Tiwatope Savage widely known as Tiwa Savage, have been invited by the Department of State Service (DSS) for questioning over alleged political utterances against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
It was gathered that Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage were invited to the DSS office in Lagos two weeks ago during which they were warned to be careful with their posts on the social media.
Tiwa Savage had on her social media accounts initiated a movement tagged, “WeAreTired” in protest of sexual assault cases against women in Nigeria.
Through the movement, the ace singer called on Buhari’s administration to find lasting solution to rape in the country.
The movement, in addition to her several posts on social media, led to the questioning of the musician by the DSS.
It was further gathered that shortly after Tiwa Savage’s invitation, the two celebrities together with Yemi Alade and Waje were also invited by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu.
The police commissioner, while sharing efforts of the Force to tackle rape and other problems in the country, warned the musicians to steer clear of political comments in order not to incur the wrath of the current administration.
Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage both appear to have toned down their social media posts in recent days after the meeting with the DSS and police in Lagos.
Don Jazzy, who is known for his active engagement on social media, is yet to post on his Twitter handle for over 22 hours.
