Police parade suspected killers of UNIBEN student, Uwaila

The Edo State Police Command has paraded the suspected killers of Uwaila Vera Omozuma, a student of UNIBEN who was raped and murdered in a church in Ihovbe Quarters in Benin.

Uwaila was a 100-Level Microbiology student of the University of Benin before he was raped and killed by unknown assailants while reading in a church.

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Johnson Kokumo, on Wednesday, said the police in the state had arrested six suspects in connection with the rape and murder of the UNIBEN student.

The suspects include, Nelson Ogbebor, Akato Valentine, Mrs Tina Samuel, Mrs Mary Ade, Nosa Osabohien and Collins Ulegbe.

While speaking, the state commissioner of police stated that autopsy revealed Uwaila was raped.

Kokumo said, “The matter is of great concern to the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, who sent homicide experts to work with our policemen in Benin.

“What we are seeing today is a result of the efforts of the police to get at the root of the crime, and today, I announce to you that the perpetrators have been arrested.”
