The Commissioner of health in Lagos Professor Akin Abayomi has announced that Lagos has recorded three news cases of the novel coronavirus.
He gave a breakdown of the patients in a statement on his twitter page as: “One of the 3 new patients is a 51year old Briton who arrived in Nigeria on March 8 via BA75 flight”.
“The 2nd is a Nigerian on March 14 connecting flight KL0582 London -Amsterdam / KL0587 Amsterdam – Lagos The 3rd is a 65year old US citizen who arrived in Lagos about 6 weeks ago”.
Many Lagosians expressed panic as the 3rd patient is said to have been in the state for 6 weeks.
The state government has reduced the number of people allowed in a gathering from 50 it earlier announced to 20. Business Influx correspondents in Lagos, however, noticed non-compliance in many parts of the states.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 26 with 19 in Lagos. No death has been recorded in Lagos as two patients have recovered including the index patient an Italian.
