The Vice President of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria, apologized as his security aides attacked Vanguard photojournalist, Abayomi Adeshida, on Thursday at the Presidential Villa.
The incident happened at the State House Banquet Hall during the opening of the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit organized by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission.
The journalist said his sophisticated camera was damaged in the process.
He said “I was shocked when these DSS started beating me for no apparent reason. They tore off my Presidential Villa accreditation tag on the shirt and dragged me on the floor while hitting and kicking me, ”
The Journalist said he was taking pictures of the vice president taking a tour of the exhibition stands at the event when five persons of the Department of State Security attacked him.
According to Adeshida, Osinbajo was at that moment, being presented a copy of the magazine as a souvenir.
Adeshida was attacked two days after President Buhari dismiss 35 aides of Osinbanjo.
The Vice President spokesman Laolu Akande, said on twitter, the incident was regretted but has been settled.
“The needless scuffle between a Villa accredited photographer, Mr Adeshida and one of the security aide earlier today has since been resolved. Incident is regretted & and I have apologised to him for any embarrassment caused. Also a list circulating in the media on the so-called sacked” he tweeted
