The Executive Director of Project, Niger Delta Development Commission, Cairo Ojougboh, discovered N3 trillion Naira ghost contract in the commission.
Addressing News Men in Abuja, the former member of the House of Representative said 10 audit firms has been hired to audit the financial records of the NDDC.
Ojougboh said 120 of the contracts have been fully funded by the commission without the senator mobilising working on any of the contracts.
He said, “The NDDC is owing over N3tn to phantom contractors. It is these contractors that are making this noise because they know the interim management will not compromise.
“The genuine contractors have not been paid while phantom contractors have been paid. Some of the contracts have been terminated but the contractors failed to return the money.”
However On Sunday Niger Delta People Confederation and Niger Delta Group declined the interim committee set up by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio.
The NDPC called for the disbandment of the forensic audit, they said the action was to to suit Akpabio’s interest and not the country’s interest.
Akpabio said the call for his removal will not stop him from fishing out, those who did not deliver the projects paid for by the commission.
In a statement revealed by the NDPC, jointly signed by its Coordinator-General and the Secretary-General, Mr Iyamu Osaro Culture and Mr Ovie Kenneth, respectively, the group faulted the composition of the three-man committee and urge President Buhari for immediate dismissal of the committee.
