The United States House of Representatives, has announced an impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump following the reports of unconstitutional acts.
The impeachment inquiry was announced by the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.
Pelosi accused Donald Trump of deluding his oath of office, national security, and betraying the integrity of the country’s election.
Speaking to a news conference, Pelosi said:
“The actions of the Trump presidency revealed the dishonorable fact of the President’s betrayal of his oath of office, betrayal of our national security and betrayal of the integrity of our elections.”
“Therefore, today, I am announcing the House of Representatives moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry.”
Trump was accused of using congressional approved foreign assistance to oppress and subdue his opposing presidential aspirant, Joe Biden.
“That the President of the United States sought to enlist a foreign government to interfere in our democratic process by investigating one of his political rivals — and may have used the withholding of Congressionally-appropriated foreign assistance days earlier as intimidation, ” Pelosi added.
The President has replied with some series of tweet lashing out against members of the House of Reps.
In one tweet, he called it a “witch-hunt”
“They never even saw the transcript of the call. A total Witch Hunt!”
Another tweet, he tagged the Democrats probes as “Presidential Harassment”.
This is not the first time the 45th President of the United States has faced impeachment processes.
In December 2017, a resolution of impeachment failed in the House by a 58–364 margin.
However, with the Democrats being the majority in the House, it might pose a threat to the president’s seat.
