Nigeria’s Super Eagles were held to a two-all draw by Ukraine in an international friendly.
The game which was played in Dnipro was filled with entertainment as both teams settled for a 2-2 draw.
Nigeria opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a well-struck finished by debutant Joe Aribo.
Thirty minutes later, Nigeria won a penalty. Victor Oshimen didn’t disappoint as he maintained composure to give Nigeria a two-goal lead.
However, the drama was far ending as the Host came out from the break with more intense.
Nigeria’s defensive resistance was eventually broken in 78th minute by Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Manchester City full-back powerfully struck the ball past the Nigerian Goalkeeper (Francis Uzoho) making it 2-1.
The host wasn’t done yet as Roman Yaremchuk scored in the 80th minute with a controversial goal to level the game. Close replay showed that the ball bounced off Yaremchuk hands before he scored the goal.
However, with the absence of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) the controversial goal wasn’t reviewed.
The host had a late minute goal ruled out for offside.
Despite the draw, the Nigerian Coach, Gernot Rohr will be pleased with the performance.
With the retirement of Key Players Mikel Obi and Odion Ighalo and the introduction of new players, Joe Aribo and Victor Oshimen, the future seems bright for the Super Eagles.
