Despite the warnings by the Nigerian Police Force, members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria still processed for Ashura.
A spokesperson, Ibrahim Musa told the press “Our members came under attack in several towns and cities. In Kaduna, police fired at us killing three and injuring ten. They also arrested many.”
He also said another IMN leader was reportedly shot dead in Sokoto.
In Abuja and Bauchi, Police fired tear gas to disrupt the procession.
Gombe State, a spokesman for the group, Saleh Usman Deba reported two members killed.
“So far, two people have been killed and seven others injured. Several people were arrested while the IMN headquarters in Gombe has been sealed.”
On the contrary, the Kaduna state police command denied killing of any IMN member.
